WELCOME TO THE 3 CULTURES CAMP!

The confluence of the Christian, Jewish and Muslim peoples in Medieval Spain offers a prime example of multiculturalism in contrast to the rest of Europe of the day. The cultural exchanges among Christian, Jewish and Muslim shaped the Spanish language, our urban geography, our architecture, our literature and therefore our identity.

Taking into consideration the recent humanitarian crisis of Syria, the terrorist incidents in France and Turkey and other recent events, ASDE Scouts de España considers as something vital importance to make tolerance and coexistence take roots among our young people and children. The beauty of the Mediterranean salty waters should unite all those that live on its shores. It should not be a stage for battles or conflicts, but rather a celebration of diversity and the many rich cultures that surround it.

In this context and under the motto We, the Euro Mediterranean People”, ASDE Scouts de España will hold the “3 Cultures Camp”, an international camp that ASDE Scouts de España will hold this summer in Spain. During the 8 days that will take the event, 70 Pioneers/Ventures from the Euro-Mediterranean Region will experience an unforgettable camp where tolerance and coexistence will lead all their memories.

Our core objectives for this international summer camp are

  • To bring together the Euro-Mediterranean People
  • To endorse the Culture of Peace and counter hate speech
  • To promote the coexistence amongst young people beyond faiths
  • To encourage tolerance build and boost a Global citizenship.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

Members of the Pioneers/Ventures section in their NSO/A (aged 14-17)

  • The 3 Cultures Scout Camp will be held in English. Participants will be expected to understand and communicate well in English. However, we encourage them to help each other with translation.
  • NSOs/NSAs are encouraged to ensure that their delegations are as diverse as possible (gender, geographical or economic background)
  • Each delegation should include a Scout Leader (4 participants + 1 Scout Leader)

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The Registration Fee for 3 Cultures Camp is 150€ per participant. This activity is partially granted by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development. For this reason, those NSO/NSA interested in taking part of this experience should sign a partnership agreement that, despite entailing some duties (participation in a kickoff meeting, online meetings, final Assessment Meeting, etc.), offers financial support (*):

  • Accommodation and meals from the Saturday lunch 16th July to lunch Saturday 23rd July
  • Shuttle Service (both the arrival and the departure day)
  • 50% of travel Cost per person (with a maximum funding allocated depending on the country)

(*) Only partner organisations will get financial support. Pioneers/Ventures coming from no partner organization may participate but with no funding assistance.

PARTICIPATION FEE

For this reason, those NSO/NSA interested in taking part of this experience should sign the partnership agreement enclosed that, despite entailing some duties (participation in a kickoff meeting, online meetings, final Assessment Meeting, etc.), offers financial support (*):

  • Accommodation and meals from the Saturday dinner 16th July to Saturday 23rd July breakfast
  • Shuttle Service (both the arrival and the departure day)
  • 50% of travel Cost per person (with a maximum funding allocated depending on the country)

 Please note that the participant fee does not cover any visa or health insurance expenses.

WHEN & WHERE?

The 3 Cultures Camp will officially starts on Saturday 16th July 2016 at 10:00h with the Open Ceremony and it will end on Saturday 23rd July 16:00h.

It will be hosted at Granada. This city, ancient kingdom where Jewish, Muslims and Christians lived together, rich in culture and in history, will offer participants hiking routes, cultural visits, outing, etc. More information will be provided directly to all the participants when their registration is confirmed.

The 3 Cultures Camp will start on Friday 16th July at 18:00 and finish on Saturday 23rd at 11:00am.

 

Inscripciones

Aquellas Organizaciones Federadas interesadas podrán inscribirse hasta el 15 de junio (antes de las 13:00). Según el proceso de inscripción simplificada se solicitará el VºBº a sus respectivas Organizaciones Federadas. Una vez inscritas las delegaciones, éstas recibirán una carta de confirmación de registro donde recibirán más información más detallada sobre el pago de la cuota de inscripción, el programa del encuentro y la gestión de los desplazamientos.

Important Information

As the programme is partly supported by a grant from the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development and the reporting requirements include, among others, that we have to save the original tickets (hard copy) and boarding passes of the participants. Please make copies of your travel documents and keep your boarding passes (original document) until we meet in Granada.
